We all already have a doctorate in making popcorn in the microwave, everyone knows exactly how many seconds need to be put in so that it does not burn and so that as few seeds as possible are left – according to his specific microwave.
So why make your own popcorn when you can just put a ready-made bag in the microwave?
Self-made popcorn is first and foremost much healthier.
Corn is a whole grain, it has lots of dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals and has a nutritional value equivalent to whole wheat but gluten free. Popcorn is considered unhealthy because when it comes ready in a bag it is full of flavors and aromas and margarine that bring with them lots of calories and nutritional value, well … not one of the most successful. When you make the popcorn, you can choose what you put in it, and even if you make corrupt choices, they will probably still be healthier than the ones in the bag.
Another and no less important reason, is that you will not believe the difference in taste when you make the popcorn yourself!
And it will surprise you how simple it is.
So … ready to learn how to make the perfect popcorn at home?
Let’s Get started!
Ingredients
1. Large pot
The ambition is for an aluminum pot. Somehow it comes out tastier ..
2. One cup of corn kernels
Or in other words, enough to cover the bottom of the pot.
3. Salt
A generous pinch of salt. When the priority is to salt as thin as possible in order to bring about a uniform distribution.
4. Butter and oil
The real secret – a 1: 1 ratio of oil to butter to frying. It is recommended to choose sunflower, canola or corn oil. Personally, we like to use salted butter and reduce the amount of salt we add. About 2 tablespoons of oil with about 30 grams of butter. When you use butter in the frying process instead of after it, you avoid the risk that it will damage the crunch of the popcorn and enjoy a wonderful buttery taste!
Instructions
So how do you make this magic?
Put the popcorn, oil, butter and salt in a saucepan and mix lightly so that all the grains are coated.
Cover the pot, and put it on high heat. Every half minute shake the pot gently to allow all the grains to enjoy the heat.
After about a minute the grains will start to explode (and the smell in the house will start to drive your taste buds crazy) Keep shaking occasionally, Until the popping stops and the pot fills up.
Thats it! the popcorn is ready!
Transfer to a large bowl. You can season with a variety of mixtures for special flavors such as garlic powder and paprika, chili or hyssop, but between us – there is nothing like real, salty and hot butter popcorn!
